About The Program
The Career Foundation’s General Carpenter Pre-Apprenticeship program is delivered in partnership with Mohawk College.
Our General Carpenter Pre-Apprenticeship for Youth program is geared to youth between the ages of 18 and 29 who have an interest in pursuing a career in carpentry.
Program Details
The program runs for approximately 32 weeks. Participants receive General Carpenter Level 1 Apprenticeship training, along with secondary trade exposure in the Drywall, Acoustic and Lathing Applicator trade, in addition to job search and job maintenance training, in order to develop skills for successful employment.
Some safety equipment and tools are also provided prior to a paid work placement component, where students continue their learning in the field. The majority of the training will take place in Hamilton; however, work placements could be in surrounding areas.
There is no cost to participate. The Government of Ontario provides funding for the General Carpenter Pre-Apprenticeship program.
