The Current Scope

Sales and service industry workers are always happy and ready to work

The service industry has been severely disrupted by COVID-19. While some businesses—particularly in tourism—are considering closing their doors, others such as grocery stores and online retailers have been hiring in large numbers.

Sales skills will be in great demand as businesses look to recoup lost revenue and rebuild their businesses. Digital marketing and online sales will also grow as companies transition their business models to support online activities. These changes highlight the need for careful skills identification and realignment for newly created jobs in the sector and in parallel sectors as well.

The Career Foundation can support companies with outplacement of displaced workers and with timely reskilling and redeployment of workers to critical, high-demand areas so they can once again provide valuable contributions to stabilizing and growing the sector.
